Carmen is the owner of Bay Area Ultrasounds. After graduating college, she joined the staff at Driscoll Children’s Hospital Maternal Fetal Medicine group in 2013 to begin her career. She spent a total of 11 years at DCH where she specialized in performing obstetric ultrasounds on high-risk pregnancies in the coastal bend area including flying to the surrounding areas of Laredo and Victoria, Texas. In her time at DCH she assisted and collaborated with MFM physicians to offer her expertise in utilizing advanced imaging techniques in order to help physicians diagnose a wide range of fetal anomalies. She has extensive experience guiding in fetal procedures and working directly one on one patient care in the ICU, labor and delivery and antepartum units. She has obtained additional certifications (NT and CLEAR) in order to adequately perform additional studies and has assisted in submitting imaging to AIUM in order to maintain credentialing for multiple sites in various states, training new sonographers, ultrasound students and medical residents in Northern California in the field of OB diagnostic studies. In 2023, Carmen decided to begin her travel career to expand her knowledge in fetal echocardiography as well as to learn from other skilled sonographers and physicians. She has had the opportunity to work with the most elite MFM Physicians/Sonographers in Austin, Texas; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Santa Clara, California. She has now added her third child to her family and will be coming back to the coastal bend with a mission of utilizing all of her skills and knowledge to provide compassionate care for the women of south Texas. Carmen offers a warm prospective as a clinical sonographer which sets her aside from others in her field allowing her to provide a warm, safe atmosphere for her patients.
